Roofing Insurance Claim Facts

Contents

There are a lot of myths surrounding roofing insurance claims. A lot of these arise out of speculation and from the different procedures followed by different insurance agencies. We work closely with your insurance agent to help navigate your insurance claim as easily as possible. Recently, we’ve worked on a lot of repair jobs in our St Louis, Columbus, Nashville, and Cincinnati roofing offices, though we have repair divisions and emergency 24/7 crews in all of our markets.

Myth: I looked at my roof and didn’t see any problems!

Fact: That’s good news. But ultimately, your roof needs to be physically inspected by a professional roofing agent who can determine if there is actual hail damage. Insurance companies generally have highly trained adjusters that can determine if your roof has damage and needs repaired. Additionally, we are Bone Dry Roofing undergo frequent training so that we can also properly inspect a roof. You should have this done after a hail storm, even if damage may not be immediately evident.

Myth: I’m not missing any shingles so I must not have damage.

Fact: Missing shingles are related to wind damage claims and can happen during any time of storm with high winds. However, hail damage can be harder to see and may not physically cause leakage for years after the storm.

Myth: I was told my roof has minimal or very little damage and therefor I don’t need to file a claim.

Fact: If your roof has any damage what-so-ever you have a valid insurance claim and should file with your insurance company. Damage might not cause your roof to leak for years. This is why it’s important to have a qualified person inspect your roof.

Myth: I only have 1 year to file my insurance claim.

Fact: That might be true. You should check with your individual insurance provider. Typically, you will have longer than a year if it’s a fairly widespread storm. It’s also possible your insurance company could provide a shorter time period. Hopefully we’re able to clear up some of these uncertainties about filing your roofing insurance claim. If you ever receive any damage or suspect your roof could have received damage, call Bone Dry to come give a thorough inspection of your roof. Or, contact your insurance company, who we will happily work with to repair your roof.

The experience of working with all of the folks at Bone Dry Roofing was top notch. Detailed photos and videos were provided for the initial inspection of the roof and then multiple photos were provided throughout the installation. I live in another state and was very well pleased working with them long distance. They made it very easy and stress free. The shingle roof - and all new decking - was replaced in less than 7 hours. Other teams of theirs will be back to replace the b pipe and the gutters next week.
